The All Progressives Congress (APC) 4-member committee set up by the National Working Committee (NWC) to look into the crisis in its Kaduna State chapter which led to the demolition of a factional secretariat by the state government said, the committee’s fact finding mission will not be judgemental.
The committee who had given 11am yesterday as the time to visit the demolished secretariat located at 11b Sambo Road in Kaduna metropolis did not arrive until at about 3:41pm after most of the personalities including Senator Shehu Sani had left the venue after waiting for over four hours.
It would be recalled that the National Working Committee of the party announced the decision to investigate the crisis in Kaduna and Kogi chapters of the party in a statement issued on Thursday by the National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, following an executive session it held on Wednesday.
The party mandated the committee headed by the National Deputy Chairman and former governor of Ekiti state, Segun Oni to look into the remote and immediate causes of the crisis in the state chapters and the circumstance that led to the demolition of the building, which belonged to a senator and member of the party, Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi.
Other members of the fact finding mission include the National Auditor, George Moghalu and National Woman Leader, Dr. Rahmatu Aliyu and also accompanied by the deputy national secretary, Chief Victor Diadiom.
Speaking to newsmen upon arrival, the Committee chairman Mr Oni who was received by Senator Hunkuyi, apologised for keeping members waiting, stressing that the committee was on a fact finding mission whose job is not going to be judgemental.
“The National Working Committee is concerned about happenings in Kaduna state, to find out the facts and appeal to all sides to sheathe their swords.
“At the end of our assignment, we will put up our reports and submit to the NWC and the reconciliatory committee under the leadership of the national leader of our great party Asiwaju Tinubu.
“We are confident of resolving our problems and function as one big family to move the party and state forward.
“Like I said, our mission is not going to be judgemental. We will look at the congress results sheets and what INEC has as a way of authenticating the state chairmanship”.
Reacting, Senator Hunkuyi whose demolished building that served as the secretariat told the committee not to take sides in all of the matter, stressing that another time needed to be fixed for proper interface with aggrieved members in the state.
He drew the attention of the committee to the fact that, the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the party is expected to hold soon and the ‘authentic’ acting chairman has not been invited.
He suggested that if the two persons claiming leadership of the party in the state will not be invited to the meeting, then none of them should be invited until the matter on ground is amicably resolved.
