Over 2,000 Defect From APC To PDP In Kano

No fewer than 2,000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sumaila local government area of Kano State have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The former members of the APC were received by the former governor of the state, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, Ambassador Aminu Wali and Gambo Salau.

Hon Surajo Kanawa, who led the defected members accused the APC of leaving the running of the party in the area to the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Reps), Hon. Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila, who runs the party in the area like an empire.

He explained that only favoured members of Kawu’s ‘empire’ are recognised as APC members in the area. He further explained that they are leaving the party because of the high handedness of Kawu, who he accused of blocking all channels employed for reaching the party’s headquarters for complaints.

He further said that the aggrieved members that worked assiduously for the success of the party over the years are being treated with contempt by Hon Kawu Sumaila.

He said the defectors left APC due to lack of equity, fairness and internal democracy. He added that with Hon Kawu Somalia in charge, the future looks bleak for the APC in Sumaila local government area.
