The Etsu Nupe, who is also the Chairman, Niger state council of traditional rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar has said that he never accused the state governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello of nepotism and incompetence as reported by some newspapers not LEADERSHIP.

He stated at the inauguration of the 2018 Nupe Day celebration slated for June 26 , 2018 at his palace in Bida,  weekend , that at no time did he make such a comment against the person of governor of Niger state with whom exists mutual respect.

According to the royal father who was surprised at such media report, he said: “ I hold Mr governor in high esteem, and will never say such a thing against his person or office”.

The Etsu Nupe, however, called on all  concerned in the area of education to as a matter of urgency, include the study of Nupe language in the school’s curriculum because he believes indigenous languages are going into extinction due to the unbridled influence of foreign languages spoken by the people.

Consequently , he suggested to the committee of Nupe day celebration to include speaking of Nupe language for at least ten minutes without injection of English or Hausa languages as part of the competition  to mark the Nupe day.

While saying that such competition will promote Nupe language,he added that it will also  make the  Nupe  people, especially the youth to be proud of their indigenous languages.

The chairman of the committee, Alhaji M.T. Mamman, said the unity, progress and cohesiveness of Nupe nation will be  informed by   the activities  to mark  this year’s Nupe Day.
