World Water Day: CWED Takes Water Sensitization To Kaduna Citizens

A Non Governmental Organization, Centre for Water and Environment Development (CWED) as part of activities that marked the world water day has sensitized Kaduna citizens on their right and role to water supply and the role of the government in water supply.

The world water day with the theme “Nature for Water” with sensitization through a road work through some streets within Kaduna metropolis was basically to educate the purpulace on the use of water.

A press statement issued by the program manager of CWED Shanni Doris Zakama and made available to newsmen, emphasized that in nigeria , consumers of water as an essential commodity are not conscious of their right to demand for accountability in water management, quality and uninterrupted supply.

She further stated that everyone on earth deserves access to clean , safe and affordable drinking water and should not be taken for granted, adding that it is wrong to defaecate into river or water channels.

In the same vein, she said, government on her part is expected to provide sustainable, vkean, sage, accessible, portable water to consumers for all uses and also create enabling laws and environment guiding water supply and water resources and maintaining the integrity of fresh water ecosystems of the nation and protect water sources.

“As we join the world in marking this year’s water day, all hands must be on deck to ensure that every home has uninterrupted access to clean and quality water supply.

” We call on the media to devote more time and space in advancing the course of sustainable water supply in the world, Nigeria and Kaduna state by providing their already existing formidable platform for education, information and enlightenment and interrogation of accountability and sustainability innwater supply management.

” It is our conviction that by doing this, the sustainable development goal which seeks unfetted human access to water supply by 2030 shall be achieved”.
