I Will Put People First – Guber Aspirant

A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ogun State, Otunba Jimi Lawal, at the weekend restated his commitment to Human Capital Development as the basis for transforming the Gateway State.

Addressing party faithful at a reception for APC stakeholders across the 20 Local Governments of Ogun State at the Otunba Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu Ode, Lawal said, development of the people will be his cardinal objective saying, “Without a quality focus on Human Capital Development, we cannot move forward in the comity of nations.”

Lawal, who acknowledged the good governance being executed by the present administration in the state said he would move the state higher on the ladder of development.
He said, “Yes, I continue to insist that our Governor, His Excellency, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, is the best, my determination is to move Ogun State beyond where it is presently.

“Our Human Capital Development goals centre around free and compulsory education along with payment of WAEC fees and quality Primary Healthcare Centres in each of the 236 Wards of Ogun State with adequate medical staff and equipment for each one.

“Of course, Economic Development is our focus too. We’ll ensure quality skills acquisition among our youths to make them employable and self-employed too. Our women will have access to micro-credit for their businesses, while farmers will smile because we’ll focus on rural roads and provide potable water in their communities.”

Chief Imam of Ijebuland, Alhaji Abdul Razak Salaudeen, who offered prayers at the event graced by ace Fuji musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, entertaining guests, said, “God will crown Muhammadu Shakirudeen Jimi Lawal’s efforts with success.”

A leader of APC from Ipokia Local Government, Bishop Koko, while admitting that being a Yewaman, Ogun West deserves to produce a Governor in 2019, but said, “Otunba Jimi Lawal has an intimidating CV and rich experience that none of the aspirants in all the political parties can match.”

An octogenarian community leader in Ijebu Ode, Alhaji Iliasu Ashiru, spoke in a similar vein, insisting that Lawal, given his accomplishments in life is an asset that Ogun State should tap from by electing him as Governor in 2019.

The event was graced by the executive members of APC from all the 236 Wards of Ogun State. Their counterparts from the 20 local governments were also in attendance.
