The Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) gubernatorial candidate in Katsina State in the 2015 general election, Senator Yakubu Lado Danmarke, along side thousands of his supporters have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The defectors were received by the PDP national chairman, Uche Secondus, during the party’s North-west zonal rally in Katsina which held over the weekend.

Speaking at the ceremony which witnessed a massive turn out of party faithful across the North-west zone and the 34 local governments in Katsina State, the PDP national chairman  expressed delight that a high profile politician like Sen Lado and thousands of his supporters would add value to the party ahead of the 2019 elections.

Secondus  added that  the decampees would enjoy all benefits and privileges just like older members of the party, adding “PDP is a party for all and nobody will be discriminated against. Ours is a party that cares for all Nigerians”.

The national chairman however observed that with the large crowd that grace the ceremony the party according to him “is poised to take over power in Katsina State and at the federal level in the 2019 general elections”.

He averred that if PDP is elected it would strive to provide food on the table of all Nigerians, alleging that  the APC was only bent on spreading hunger, poverty and sadism in the land.

Speaking on behalf of the decampees, Sen Lado pledged to mobilise all his political arsenals in making sure the PDP wrest power from the APC in Katsina State and the federal level.

Lado however called on all party members to unite to save the country from the myriad of problems confronting it, promising that the PDP would provide Nigerians with alternatives that would promote security and economic wellbeing of the citizenry.
