The Senator representing Borno Central senatorial district at the National Assembly, Senator Baba Kaka Garbai, has distributed 800 Sewing Machines to 800 members of Maiduguri Metroplitan Tailors Association from the 15 wards of Maiduguri metropolis.
This is even as he involved the police in the distribution of the machines to all the beneficiaries to avoid a repeat of what occurred recently where political thugs snatched empowerment equipment meant for some women and ran away when the lawmaker carried out similar exercise.
Presenting the equipment to some of the beneficiaries yesterday in Maiduguri, Garbai said the gesture is part of his zonal intervention programme done periodically to the people of his constituency.
He added that zonal intervention is part of the budget that the National Assembly passes every year, saying he has carried out some interventions like building of schools, drilling of boreholes, and provision of grinding machines to the people of his constituency among others in the past.
Garbai Said, “Zonal intervention is part of the budget that National Assembly passes every year. Apart from this, I have done other zonal interventions like building of schools, drilling of boreholes, establishment of skills acquisition centre among others. I am today presenting 800 sewing machines to 800 members of MMC Tailors Association.
“We have provided security and monitoring team who will escort the items to 15 wards in the Maiduguri metropolis to ensure that all the tailors get the sewing machines. Every tailor in the MMC will get a sewing machine each,” he added.
