A community of Adeh, in Olamaboro Local Government Area, Kogi State has been thrown into turmoil over the cutting off of a hand of a boy by his brother over disagreement bordering on a girlfriend.
It was gathered that the two brothers of same parents had been at each other’s throat for quite sometime now without the senior members of the family having any inkling of the matter.
Monday Usman, the boy in the storm, who has his left hand chopped off on Monday night by his elder brother, had gone to the village, Adeh, to complete preparation for his General Certificate of Education examination due to commence soon before the incidence.
A cousin of Monday, an elder of the community, who spoke to our reporter in Adeh stated that before the night of the incidence Papa, as the assailant was known and called had threatened to kill Monday but nobody reacted.
It was alleged that before dark on that fateful day Papa was allegedly monitoring the movement of his younger brother (Monday) through some contacts he had positioned at different points till he finally tracked him caught in the room where he was with a girl at the outskirts of the village.
It was said that before Monday realised the imminent danger, the house had been surrounded by loyalists of Papa who helped to disarm Monday and severed his left hand and three fingers of the girl (name withheld).
The community has, however, since been on the lookout for Papa and his cohorts who are said to be at large.
When contacted, the Kogi State Command Police Public Relations Officer, William Aya, enjoined the members of the community and the general public to report to the nearest police station on sighting Papa.
