29 IBB University Students Bag First Degrees



The Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai is set to graduate 29 First Class graduands even as it launches N7 billion endowment fund at the second convocation ceremony of the University.

Also at the convocation, the university for the first time since it was established will confer honorary doctorate degree on Sheik Ahmed Lemu and the managing  director  of NNPC, Dr Maikanti Baru.

Addressing a news conference, yesterday to usher in the convocation, the vice chancellor of the University, Prof Mohammad Nasir Maiturare stated that  6,348  students will be graduated in the second combined  convocation  for 2013/14, up till  2016/17 sessions slated for Saturday.

According to him ,a total of 1,281 students passed out with second class upper division, 3,290 of them had second class lower ,1,613 had third class degrees  and 135 came out with pass degrees  that is being phased out.

The Vice Chancellor also disclosed that the university is graduating its first set of 118 students of Post Graduate Programs with 32 Masters degree and 82 Diplomas.

Maiturare, hinted that the convocation ceremony will mark the confirmation of a prominent cleric in the state Shiekh Ahmed Lemu with Honorary Degree while Managing Director of NNPC, Dr Maikanti Baru would be given Honorary Fellowship of the University.

He informed that the event will witness the launch of N7 billion endowment fund for the institution’s  abandoned and uncompleted projects which includes offices and other projects to complement  government’s efforts.

He enumerated activities lined up for the exercise to include lectures, cancer awareness, conference, novelty match, dinner and commissioning of some of the completed structures, facilities, research centres, especially donated to the university projects.
