Isolo LCDA Chair, Councillors At War Over Supplementary Budget

This, perhaps, is not the best of times for the incumbent chairman of Isolo Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, Hon Shamusideen Olaleye, as he is now at loggerheads with the legislative chamber of the LCDA over a supplementary budget for 2018, midway into the year.

Isolo LCDA 2018 budget of N1.5 billion was presented to the legislative arm of the LCDA early in the year and passed in February.

The councillors, who are surprised that the chairman is coming with a supplementary budget, when they are yet to see the projects executed with the 2018 budget, are asking the chairman to explain how he appropriated the 2018 budget before asking for approval for another supplementary budget.

One of the councillors, who craved anonymity in a telephone interview with LEADERSHIP, said he and his colleagues are asking the chairman to give account of his stewardship, saying nothing is seen as developmental and capital projects in the length and breadth of the LCDA to justify the huge amount of money allegedly spent by the chairman.

He said, “We have not seen any justification for the N1.5 billion Appropriation Act passed in February this year, and halfway into the year, he is coming up with a supplementary budget, for what?.

“We have asked him to justify the expenditure of the 2018 approved budget. We are all united this time around to stop the passage of this supplementary budget.”

Likewise, the electorate are already calling on Hon Olaleye to deliver on his electioneering campaign promises.

Meanwhile, findings by LEADERSHIP revealed that the chairman has now become a political orphan in the LCDA, as everyone instrumental to his re-election has abandoned him.
