Police Parade Councillor, 7 Others For Gunrunning

The Nigeria Police,  yesterday,  paraded a serving councillor and seven others for gun running  and possession of prohibited firearms in Benue state.

The suspects include: Benjamin Bagugba Tivfa, 32 and a serving Councillor of Fidi Council Ward, Makurdi, Benue State; Victor Ganabe; Daniel Kyase, a member Benue State Livestock Guards; Alhaji Adajo Tomza, member Benue State Livestock Guards; Msugh Teraki, a member Benue State Livestock Guards;  Julius Avaan; Terkula Udeh and  SundayCheche, a member of Benue State Livestock Guards. Exhibits recoverd from them are two AK47 Rifles and 436 rounds of AK47 ammunition.

Force PRO,  Jimoh Moshood,  while parading the suspects,  said on June 27, 2018, the IGP Intelligence Response Team (IRT) deployed to Benue State acted promptly on actionable intelligence and other information from concerned members of the public, trailed and arrested six of the above mentioned suspects in their hideout in a hotel in Naka village, Benue State and recovered the arms and ammunition listed above from them.

According to him,  the arrest of the suspects led to the arrest of Tivfa as they confessed that the councillor was a member of their gang and responsible for supply of arms and ammunition including money to finance their operations.

He said the councillor, who admitted to have bought 15 rounds of AK47 ammunition from the last suspect, Sunday Cheche also confessed to have provided money to finance the operations of the gang.

Meanwhile,  on the update on Police Investigation into the killings of innocent people in Plateau State, Force PRO said “the Police Special Investigation Team, comprising the Intelligence Response Team ( IRT), Special Tactical Squad (STS) and Technical Intelligence Unit (TIU) led by Commissioner of Police, IGP Monitoring Unit deployed to Plateau State have commenced investigation and had recorded significant progress in getting to the root of the killings of innocent people.
