The Divisional Police Officer (DPO),in Bwari, Biodun Makanjuola has reassured residents of security of lives and properties in the area, after the crisis that erupted during the last Sallah celebration, that led to the return of 6 am to 6 pm curfew in the area.
Makanjuola, who spoke during an interview with LEADERSHIP yesterday in his office, explained that the efforts of the security operatives in the area during the incident brought the situation under control.

“We succeeded in building peace day-by-day after the incident on the 25th of December last year. We brought in a lot of innovations, as we patrolled the community to ensure that the area council has enjoyed peace”
As a matter of fact, in the last memo I wrote, I recommended that the curfew be removed, but as it is now, the curfew was returned to prevent a complete breakdown of law and order, which we believe would be worse than the previous one”

The DPO also cautioned that all efforts, especially the placement of curfew is necessary and in no way an attempt to prolong suffering of residents, but in the interest of peace.
He also stressed that crisis was started by a cult activity which was aggravated by the tension caused by the chieftaincy tussle in Bwari and all efforts made is to prevent it from getting to a point it will not be controlled.
