The federal government has approved the appointment of Dr Aliyu Umar, as the executive director, National Cereal Research Institute (NCRI) Badeggi.
A release yesterday in Minna indicated that the appointment letter given to Dr Umar on Tuesday was signed by the director for Human Resources in Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The statement added that the next executives director was born in 1963 and , took appointment with the institute as a Research Officer 2, and rose through the ranks until he became director, Research outreach department, a position he occupied until his present appointment.
He has served as head of stations in Uyo and Amakama in Akwa Ibom and Abia states respectively.
A season scientist, he authored several scientific articles in national and international journals.
He got his Doctorate degree in soil science from Federal University of technology Minna and he has been one of the top scholars in the institute over the years.
