The Gombe State Police Command yesterday said normalcy has been restored following the communal clash between the people of Biliri, Shongom and Kaltungo local government areas in the boundary community of Kufai in Biliri LGA, on Friday.

The commissioner of Police,  Shina Tairu Olukolu, in a statement issued to newsmen in Gombe, said one David Stephen was killed and two persons were injured during the age long historical rivalry between the three communities.

Tairu Olukolu, said the crisis which saw hundreds of women dressed in black attires, who trooped to the major Gombe- Yola highway was brought under control as a result of the quick intervention of security agencies.

“Due to the intervention of security agencies, normalcy was quickly restored and arrests were made with dangerous weapons recovered,” he said.

The police boss who said, “the situation is now very calm”, assured the public of his command readiness to ensure the safety of lives and property of residents at all times, no matter the challenges or impediments occasioned by mischief makers.
