A 42 year old man, Tambaya Alhaji Manu, has allegedly slaughtered his mother in-law identified as Aisah Barto,40 at Bangu village in Mahuta town, a village in Fakai local government area of Kebbi State. This was said to be as a result of a misunderstanding between him and his mother-in-law who refused to release his wife (her daughter) after he divorced her a month ago.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the aggrieved man had a disagreement with his wife which forced her to relocate to her parent’s house. A resident of the village , Shuaibu Jatau told newsmen on Tuesday that after several efforts to resolve the marital crisis to no avail, he stormed his in-laws’ house to take his wife home. But when family members stopped him,he drew out acutlass and slaughtered his mother in-law who died immediately.

He was also said to have attacked two other members of the family inflicting machete cuts on them, but they were rescued by their neighbours. He attempted running away but unfortunately for him, people around overpowered him and he was beaten to death”, Jatau said. When contacted , the Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), DSP Mustapha Suleiman confirmed the incident.
He said before the police got to the village, all the people had deserted the village, saying that two people died in the incident — the mother in-law and the son in-law who is the husband of their daughter.
