A former Nigerian Ambassador to Canada and Mexico, Professor Iorwuese Hagher, has declared his intention to contest the Presidential ticket of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the 2019 general elections.
Hager who was at the SDP secretariat yesterday to pick his expression form assured that if voted into power, his administration will ensure that the leadership crisis in the country comes to an end.
“My presence here is to respond to the call of Nigeria, my country, which has been battered severely by bad leadership. The situation calls on all patriots to arise and defend Nigeria’s honour and integrity. The leadership crisis in Nigeria at the present is unprecedented. Never before has a government in power brought so much shame and dishonour and failed in democracy’s most sacred duty to protect the lives of the citizens.
“My plan, determination and focus to rescue Nigeria from imminent descent to a failed state status is a deliberate revolution of hope based on education, restructuring, modern infrastructure and human development at a pace befitting of a modern state.”
He said that his government would for the first time give women priority in governance, adding that Nigeria will put to the end the clamour for resources control.
Responding, the national chairman of the party, Chief Olu Falae enjoined other distinguished Nigerians like Hager to come and save the country.
