World Cup: Musa Battles Ronaldo, Messi Others For Goal Of The Tournament



Super Eagles forward, Ahmed Musa’s second goal in their 2-0 victory against Iceland at the just concluded 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia has been shortlisted for the best strike in the global football showpiece.

The 25-year-old, scored twice for the three African championship as he combined pace, composure and brilliance to complete his brace, after a well-taken opener, to help the Eagles secure their lone victory in Russia

The Leicester City forward’s strike will contend with 17 other goals scored at the tournament in a poll conducted by FIFA.

Other goals shortlisted for the award include, Portugal duo Cristiano Ronaldo and Ricardo Quaresma, Croatia captain and Golden Ball winner, Luka Modric, Spain defender,Nacho, Brazil’s Philipe Coutinho

Also Denis Cheryshev against Saudi Arabia and Croatia, Lionel Messi’s strike against Nigeria Angel Di Maria, France’s Benjamin Pavard, Belgium trio of Adnan Januzaj, Dries Mertens and Nacer Chadli, England’s Jesse Lingard, Germany’s Toni Kroos and Colombia’s Juan Quintero make up the final cut

The winner will be announced as voting continues on the official website of FIFA until Monday 23 July, according to the World football governing body.
