2019: Masari’s Stance On Imposition Of Candidates Laudable – Yakubu

A stakeholder of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State, Bishir Yakubu Abdulbaqi, has applauded Governor Aminu Bello Masari for assuring that there won’t be imposition of candidates in 2019 general election.

Governor Masari had assured party members and stalwarts that no candidate will be imposed on the people, rather the choice of those who emerge as candidates will be in line with the yearnings of the electorate.

Speaking to our correspondent, yesterday, Yakubu said Masari’s stance indicated that anybody aspiring for elective office will have to sell himself/ herself to electorates with assurances and commitment of what he or she will do if elected.

Yakubu said the governor has, in ruling out imposition of candidates, assured that the power to determine who flies the party’s flag will reside with the party members, stressing, “this is a welcome development.”

“This will bring progress to the party and consolidate its winning strategy in 2019. It will also enhance confidence in the party leadership, which will eliminate rancor.

Continuing, Yakubu said, it was the needed impetus to engender democracy, noting that the stance has further confirmed Masari’s disposition as a true democrat.

“His Excellency Aminu Bello Masari, therefore stands to be mentioned as the first governor to openly support the democratic tenets we are all yearning for in the electoral process.”

The APC stakeholder also lauded the Katsina State government for aggressively repositioning the state through implementation of people-oriented programmes and policies, emphasising, “I am very proud of associating with the APC and our performing government.”
