GGSS Abaji Unveils Geographical Garden, ICT Centre

Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS), Abaji-Abuja has unveiled a new ultramodern Geographical Garden and an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centre, as part of the activities to mark the 2017/2018 graduation ceremony of the school.

Unveiling the facilities, the school principal, Hajiya Rukaiyyat Adaviruku, explained that the school decided to build the Geographical Garden, to enable students of the school learn practical aspects of geography.

Adaviruku also added that the ICT centre would create a congenial atmosphere for students to learn and to serve as resource centres for nearby schools that do not have such facilities.

She noted that this year’s graduation ceremony of the school was unique, adding that the school has excelled in both academic and sport competitions.

The school principal disclosed that the school, through the SAGE group has won several international awards in entrepreneurship, adding that it was a proud moment for parents to watch their children graduate after they have grappled with assessment task and final examination.

She also commended the efforts by the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of the school, school-based management committee, as well as the FCT Education Board for their assistance to the school.

Also speaking, the chairman of Abaji area council, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya, who commissioned the geographical garden and the ICT center, commended the principal of the school, for her effort in transforming the school and for naming Geographical Garden after him.

Ajiya congratulated the graduands for sparing their time to learn for the period of three years, just as he advised them to be good ambassadors in wherever institutions they may found themselves.

The chairman assured the school management of his continued improve and enhance learning environment for the students.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the Geographic Garden was named after the chairman of FCT Secondary Education Board, Alhaji Musa Yahaya Muhammad, while the ICT centre was named after the chairman of Abaji area council, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya.
