The chairman of Isolo Local Council Development Area, LCDA, Hon. Shamusideen Olaleye, has said that contrary to claims that he is a political orphan in the LCDA, he remains the overlord of politics in his domain.

Hon Olaleye was reacting to claims in some quarters that he was left in the lurch following his alleged face off with the former chairman of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), in Lagos State, Chief Henry Ajomale.

He said, “Till tomorrow, I remain the generalissimo of Isolo politics. I give respect and honour to Chief Ajomale, but I have to clear my own position. I am not contesting anything with him, but here in Isolo, I belong to the grass root and the grass root belongs to me.”

He agreed that Chief Ajomale helped him in his political journey, but added that “was an event of yesterday, that nobody must make an attempt to change. You don’t change the event of yesterday, you can only play with the event that is playing now or to change today in future.

“Moderation and humility will not make me say Chief Ajomale has not played a role, he had played a role. But I will tell you that what good have you done for a baby you rescue from fire and dump into a well? Have you done the baby any good?

“Ajomale assisted me in 2011 to become the council chairman, but I bet you, at that time, I was eminently qualified to become the council chairman. I was the best material available. To put somebody forward would have been an aberration, as he was saying it then that ‘the man I am presenting is fully qualified.’

He added that he had cut his teeth in politics, having been a vice chairman in Alimosho Local Government, not courtesy of Ajomale, but Hon Niyi Fabikun who initiated him by the way of recommendation to local government chairman.

“So coming to Isolo, I came with experience about local government administration. And mark you I have paid my bills in offices at the party level before then, so coming to Isolo, I became the secretary to the local government,” he said
