Over fifty houses have been destroyed in Dakingari , the headquarters of Suru local government area of Kebbi State.
The Executive Director of State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA),Abbas Rabiu Kamba disclosed this to LEADERSHIP in Birnin Kebbi,yesterday.
According to him, the heavy rain which lasted for several hours damaged over 50 houses in Dakingari rendering many of the residents homeless.
“So far, we have not recorded any death but over 50 houses were destroyed in the area which occurred last week precisely on 6th August, 2018 “, he said.
The SEMA boss added that officials from his office led by Alhaji Sani Dododo who is the Chairman of the agency visited the area to assess the situation and reported back to the state government for possible assistance to the victims.
Kamba also pointed out that many of the open wells in the area have been contaminated by the flood and residents were advised to suspend using the open wells till the relevant authorities treat and cleanse them.
The matter he said was reported to the state ministry of health for prompt action by the agency.
