An applicant, Abiodun Ibitomi, of Asiwaju Street, Tanke, Ilorin, Kwara State is to spend the next three months at Federal Prison Yard, Ilorin for stealing a GSM handset.
An Ilorin Chief Magistrate’s Court sentenced Ibitomi to the jail term having found him guilty of trespassing into a hostel where he stole GSM handset.
Prior to the conviction of the accused, the prosecutor, ASP Abdulkadir Jimoh, had prayed the court to try him summarily since he pleaded guilty to offence.
The magistrate, JB Salihu, granted the application of the prosecutor and convicted the 20-year-old accused of the offence of theft, contrary to Section 287 of the Penal Code Law.
