NB’s Educational Interventions Making My Job Easier – Ganduje



Following the building and donation of a block of eight classrooms, furniture, library and books at the Government Technical College, Gwale, Kano State by Nigerian Breweries Plc, governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje said the company’s massive and timely interventions in Education is making his job easier.

Ganduje stated this during the donation of the structure and the learning equipment  to the Kano State government by the Nigerian Breweries Plc.

Represented by the secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, Ganduje said with over 3 million pupils in primary schools being prepared for secondary, and the only state with two state universities, Kano is face with serious challenges in education which is the hope of the children.

“Nigerian Breweries Plc which has donated the 4th school project in Kano State within five years will continue to succeed as it has succeeded in the past 72 years of its corporate existence because it is conscious of the people’s development via Education,” Ganduje added.

While thanking the permanent secretary, Servicom, Alhaji Musa Abdullahi, for his initiative in sourcing for funds outside of the government for educational interventions, the governor warned that the new school buildings must be properly managed.

The Emir of Kano, His Royal Highness Muhammadu Sanusi II, who was represented by the Hakimi Gwale, Alhaji Yahaya Inuwa Abbas, said the company through Maltina has added value to Kano people through its corporate social responsibility platform.

“Maltina is no doubt our pride in CSR. Other corporate bodies in Kano State should follow suit,” he advised.

In his address, the Nigerian Breweries Plc managing director and chief executive officer, Jordi Borrut Bel, represented by head of Government Relations, Vivian Ikem said they are proud of their partners.

“We are proud to be a veritable partner to Kano State. Kano is special to us. Kano supports us towards achieving our business success. Kano is home to Maltina in the North. And this year, we are having our fourth educational project in five years in Kano with the first in: Government Secondary School, Bachirawa, Ungogo local government in 2014; Government Girls Secondary School, Badawa in 2015, Government Technical College; our premier Technical School and today, GTC Gwale, another Technical School in Northern Nigeria.

“This project adds to several other school projects that our company has embarked upon over the last five years across the North for the benefit of our immediate host communities and other locations where we do business. Our projects are done in diligent pursuit of our Corporate Social Responsibility goal of Winning with Nigeria: by being a responsive and distinguished corporate citizen of the states where we do business”, he stated.

Also speaking, the public affairs manager, North, Mr Danjuma John-Ekele lauded governor Abdullahi Ganduje for his usual unalloyed support for the company and enhanced security for business to trive. He also commended the Emirate Council for working together with the host community that donated the land for siting of the project .
