Ortom Condemns Harassment Of Journalists

Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom, has condemned the harassment of journalists and other people by security operatives which he said is against the tenants of democracy.

The governor, who made this remark when members of the union staged a peaceful protest at its secretariat and matched to the Benue people’s house Makurdi, lamented that the harassment is not only affecting media practitioners but politicians and the entire society.

Represented by the secretary to the Benue State government, Prof Tony Ijohor, the governor expressed worry that security forces aided eight, out of 30 House of Assembly members to serve impeachment notices. The governor assured of his administration’s support to journalists in the fight against harassment and promised to deliver the letter to President Mohammadu Buhari for consideration.
