2019: Kebbi APC Opts For Consensus

he State Executive Committee of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State, has unanimously agreed to use consensus as the criteria for selecting the party’s candidates that will represent the party in 2019 general election.
The committee which is the highest ruling body of the party in the state comprises the governor, deputy governor, past governors, their deputies, party leaders, national and State House of Assembly Members both present and past, 3 national delegates from al the 21 local government areas, zonal youth leader and local government chairmen met on Wednesday at Government House in Birnin Kebbi.
Announcing the resolution of the party after the meeting to journalists, Bala Sani Kangiwa said that in areas where consensus fails, aspirants will have to go through process of indirect elections.
“So what the national headquarters of APC did was to direct us to decide which of the 3 provisions of the constitution the state will want to adopt, direct, indirect or consensus.
‘’In case of Kebbi, the SEC has discussed and finally adopted to go for consensus and where consensus fails we will go for indirect elections”, he said.
Kangiwa emphasised that the decision taken at the SEC meeting was unanimous without any dissenting voice and the resolution would be taken to APC headquarters at Abuja.
