A 38-year-old alleged gay, Lawanson Oladipupo Adeoye, was said to have evaded arrest after spending the night in police detention, as he was about to be prosecuted on account of unlawful gay and bisexual activities in Nigeria.
It was reported that Adeoye was engaged in homosexualism at No 106, Apapa road where he resides.
On September 4th, the business man was allegedly caught by local security in the community with he’s friend Tunde Olusola, practicing a gay act at Ebute Meta and both were beaten to a pulp and about to be set ablaze by angry mob in the public.
Our correspondent got to know about the incident through an eye witness account, Mr Adelakun who narrates that the neighbourhood vigilante discovered a sodomy act being committed in Ebute Meta, Lagos suburb area around 7pm and the community was alerted which some boys took laws into their hands harassed, dehumanizing them and they were about to be set ablaze before the quick intervention of the police who whisked them away.
The merchant dealer suffered persecution and dehumanization in the hands of Nigerians and the Police Force.
In 2014, the new legislation outlawing homosexuality was signed by former President Goodluck Jonathan and also imposing prison terms of up to 14 years for people prosecuted the law.
