In the recently concluded Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has registered 381, 051 new voters in Niger State.
The state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Professor Sam Egwu disclosed this yesterday in a press statement issued in Minna by the commission’s Head Voters Education and Publicity, Arthur Adzape.
According to him a total number of 14.5 million new voters have been registered nationwide from 2017 to 2018 continuous voters registration out of which Niger State, has 381,051 newly registered voters.
He said in the statement that stakeholders’ meeting was held with leaders of political parties in the state as they gear up for their primaries.
The statement urged the parties to adhere strictly to laid down rules and procedures in the conduct of their primaries to avoid litigations by aggrieved members.
He said, “The political parties led by the deputy chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) and current chairman of Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) Engineer Abubakar Abdullahi Gwada all agreed to play the game by the rules in order to further deepen democracy.”
