Kebbi APC Sets Up C’ttees To Reduce Aspirants

The All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kebbi, have set up three committees to reduce the number of aspirants contesting various elective positions within the party in the state.

This was made disclosed to journalist on Thursday, by the party’s publicity secretary, Sani Dododo, after a stakeholder’s meeting which was attended by Governor Bagudu, at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi, shortly after his arrival from Abuja.

Dododo said, considering the large number of aspirants who came out to seek for election under the platform of the APC in the state, it was resolved that committees of respected elders within the party be set up, to meet and reconcile the aspirants through a consensus, in order to have their number reduced.

He however opined that if a consensus is not reached or reconciliation fails, the aspirants would slug it out at the primary election to give delegates opportunity to choose the candidate of their choice.

He said General Magoro would serve as the chairman of Kebbi South committee, while Suleiman Muhammad will head Kebbi North committee and Muhammadu Magawata Aliero, the state’s commissioner of education will head the Kebbi Central committee.

“What the consensus committee will do is to try to reconcile the aspirants by making appeals for a consensus. They will not impose any aspirant on the electorates,” he explained.
