4 Land In Court For Alleged Car Theft In Abuja

The police, on Thursday, docked four persons, including a woman, before the Wuse Zone 2 Magistrates’ Court, Abuja for allegedly stealing a car at Maitama, Abuja.

The accused are Idris Adamu, 33 of Masaka area, Abuja, Usman Ismaila, 27 of Karishir village, Abuja, Adams Momoh, 28 of Airport Road, Abuja and Sonia Okpanach, 31 of Housing Estate, Gwarinpa, Abuja.

They are being tried for criminal conspiracy, forgery and in possession of a stolen car.

The prosecutor, Noel Omeji, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Oct. 4, 2017.

He said that the accused allegedly stole a Honda car marked ABJ 139 JC.

Omeje said that one Mr Uchechukwu Eze of Efab Estate, Lokogoma, Abuja, reported the matter at the police station.

He said that the offences contravened Sections 97, 364 and 319 of the Penal Code.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Elizabeth Woni, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 each with two sureties in like sum.

Woni said the sureties must reside within the court jurisdiction and must be civil servants employed by the Federal Government.

She adjourned the case until Oct. 22 for hearing.
