Former deputy governor of Akwa Ibom State and senatorial candidate for Ikot Ekpene senatorial district, Engr Chris Ekpenyong, has urged the electorate to resist every plot by the All Progressives Congress to take over the state by force.
Ekpenyong, who was drafted by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders, elders and stakeholders to reclaim the mandate abandoned by former Governor Godswill Akpabio who defected to the APC, said, “It is time for a holistic action plan against political impunity”.
Speaking in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital Ekpenyong said he elected to go on the mission based on the conviction that the yearnings and aspirations of the people of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District and the state must be met.
According to Ekpenyong, who has retired to the life of a statesman and investor in the private sector, “Akwa Ibom should be more united now in order to defeat undemocratic forces trying to scuttle the development plans of Governor Udom Emmanuel since 2015”.
The former deputy governor frowned at the actions of some youths who are in the habit of taking peanuts from desperate politicians to betray the vision of government, noting that the government of Emmanuel has done more than enough to merit reelection.
