Female Lawyers Advocate Skill-based Education For Girls

The International Association of Female Lawyers Nigeria ‘Federacion International De Abogadas’ (FIDA) has advocated skill based education for girls and equal opportunity in the society at large.
The president, FIDA Abuja chapter, Ngozi Ikenga made this advocacy yesterday during the celebration of 2018 international day of the girl child with the theme ‘Skilled Girl Workforce’ at junior secondary school Wuse Zone II. She said the organisation embarked on the campaign to speak with both girls and boys in order to catch them young and produce a generation that will give equal opportunity to both male and female gender. Speaking on the recent happenings in the political space, she lamented that the government has reduced the 35 per cent slot for women to a miserable 10-15 per cent.

Ngozi added that women who were before now agitating for a 50-50 ratio will not accept such treatment, adding the act is due to ignorance on the part of those in power about the importance of women. She stated that when a girl child is educated it will go a long way to educate a nation because she will be able to do whatever she desires to do with zeal and commitment and succeed. The head, Media of the association, Ifeoma Iheanacho said skilled girls have the potential to cause a generational change. Ifeoma said only skilled based education can produce job creators now that the country is trying to revive its economy.
