NOGASA Pledges To Sanitise Petroleum Products Marketing

…Inaugurates Executives

The members of Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria (NOGASA) has promised to join hands with government to sanitise the downstream sector of the nation’s petroleum industry especially the distribution of white products. Consequently it has vowed to discourage its members from transacting in the distribution of illicit and adulterated products.

To this end the association says it has resolved to be responsible, law abiding and forthright representative body that will partner with government and its agencies to put an end to the incident of sales of adulterated petroleum products as well as embarked on aggressive campaign against sourcing of products from vandalized pipeline as well as other unlawful sources.

Making the commitment in Abuja yesterday at the inauguration ceremony of the association, the pioneer President of the association Chief Benneth Korie express the need to reposition NOGASA stressing that do so is in the overall interest of the country as its role in the development of the nation’s economy and society is immense.

“You will agree with me that the effective supply of Natural oil and gas to our nation is a great service which all our members here share in common, therefore, the protection of the interest of our members is very important,” he stated while delivering his acceptance speech.

He noted that the work the newly inaugurated executive is clear cut, saying that it is to assist in creating an enabling environment for members to operate freely around the country. He promised to do his best alongside his team members to ensure that members have a smooth interface between the marketers and the end users.

“I will work hard at all times to assist in smoothening the relationship between our member suppliers and end users of our products.”

He then charge members to operate their businesses within the limits of the law.

“Let me use this opportunity to advise those patronizing illegal Loading Points to desist from doing so, because it’s no longer necessary, it is harmful for the reputation of the business, remember we are employers of labour, we don’t want anything to jeopardize the jobs of our workers, besides, the frequent damages caused by adulterated products are costly to end users.”

Earlier, the representatives of the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Dr. Chris Ngigi, Mrs Mary Ike commended the association for the role it plays in the provision of employment for Nigerians and encourage them to treat their employees well that is the only way they can be very productive.

“We encourage you to treat your employees kindly so as to enable them put in their best performance,” She said.

In his good will massage, Deputy Director, Oil and Gas, Ministry of the Environment charged members of the association to be mindful of implications of their activities to the environment.

He call on them to partner with the government to ensure that their business operations does not bring lead to environmental degradation.

“Whatever you do ensure there that the environment is sufficiently protected and properly managed,” he stated.

The event witnessed the launching of a new logo for the association as well as the inauguration of the pioneer executive members who run the affairs of the association for the next five years. Members include, Chief Benneth Korie, President, Ahlaji Abdulłahi Idris, Deputy Presidents, Chief Edison Nwosu, Secretary. Others are Alhaji Bayo Bello, Mr. Stephen Ugboma, Mr. Akunedozie Odili, Alhaji Musa Aliyu among others.
