Sokoto APC Gov’ship Candidate Picks Running Mate

As the political equation continues ahead of 2019 general elections, Sokoto State deputy governor as well as the gubernatorial Candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, has chosen Farouk Malami Yabo as his running mate.

Yabo, who was a former commissioner for Finance, and later Local Government and Community Development in the immediate past government of Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko’ also contested the party’s ticket but came second.

Shortly after the primaries, pundits were of the view that, Yabo might be on his way out of the party. He however, proved his sportmanship when he declared his loyalty to the party.

The decision that led to Yabo’s emergence as the running mate to  Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto was taken on Saturday night when the leader of the party in the state and chairman Northern Senators Forum, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, met with the duo at his Gawon Nama residence.

According to Bashir Rabe Mani, the special adviser,  Media and Publicity to Senator Wamakko, both Kano State deputy governor, Alhaji Nasiru Gawuna and the chairman, Governing Board, National Commission for Colleges of Education, (NCCE), Alhaji Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi and 3 other serving National Assembly members from the state.

The decision to feature Yabo as running mate, it was gathered is to allow for proper utilisation of his support base towards electoral victory of the APC in the state come 2019.
