A former commissioner for health under the present APC led government in Nasarwa State, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, was at weekend chosen as the running mate to the APC governorship candidate in the 2019 election, Engr Abdullahi Sule. Dr. Akabe, who owns private hospital in Abuja, is also a chief consultant and ophthalmologist providing diagnostic and therapeutic service for the management of eye.
Dr Akabe is an Alago by tribe, one of the majority ethnic groups in the state and he hails from Doma local government area. He was said to have emerged as the preferred choice of both the party and the governorship candidate, Engr Sule, after series of consultations by APC stakeholders. Our correspondent gathered that Dr Akabe, emerged out of three persons tipped from the Alago nation, by the party for the number two job. A member of Engr Sule’s campaign team and former Interim Management Committee chairman of Akwanga LG, Kwanta Yakubu, confirmed the development to our correspondent.
“We have given the deputy to Dr Akabe, from Nasarawa south senatorial zone to balance the equation. You know our candidate is from Nasarawa north senatorial zone” he said.
