Published

on

Squad of 22 players, back room staff and technical crew of Kano Pillars arrived Asaba, yesterday, ahead of Wednesday’s Aiteo Cup final against Rangers International of Enugu.

The 2018 AITEO Cup final will hold at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.

The last time Sai Masu-gida, as Kano Pillars are fondly call, played in the finals was far back 1991, when they lost to no other team than El-kanemi warriors.

This is the second time Pillars will be playing in the finals of one of the prestigious tournaments in the Nigerian Football.

Can they make history by winning the cup for the first time or prevail over the team losing again in the final?

It might interest you to know that the opponent, Enugu Rangers Int’l had lost in the finals on four different occasions.

While the last time they won the Aiteo cup was far back 1983.

It’s been thirty-five years of being ‘trophyless’ for Rangers International and also twenty-eight years of being ‘trophyless’ for Kano pillars as far as Aiteo cup is concerned.

This year’s Aiteo Cup is all about history.Where would the pendulum swing? Enugu or Kano? It’s just few days away and time will tell who goes home with the 2018 Aiteo Cup trophy.
