Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba (Dr.) Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, has commenced construction of the first Nigeria Arc of Triumph monument in Iwo, his country home.

The monument under construction in Iwo is solely sponsored by Oluwo and is situated at the roundabout at the heart of the ancient city.

Oluwo stated that his commitment towards maintaining and upgrading public facilities is to demonstrate his desire to serve humanity.

The monarch enjoined Nigerians, especially his immediate subjects in Iwo to emulate his leadership style for the advancement of the society.

When completed, the monument will serve as tourist attraction of international standard that would also be a thing of pride for his ancient city.

The old roundabout structure has been demolished as the arc is already under construction.
He admonished leaders to launch projects that would benefit the masses and urged them to lead by example. “It is called serving humanity, and that is my own sacrifice,” he added.

“I’m setting the pace here from Iwo, fixing the fixable. I want my subjects to emulate the trait of serving humanity. I feed the poor, cloth the nude, offering scholarship, currently renovating Iwo Central Mosque and constructing an ultra modern roundabout at Iwo Night Market Square. I’m loved by my people because I sacrifice my belongings to serve them. I’m doing all these with my personal money,” he explained.
