The chairman of the South East Governors Forum and governor of Ebonyi State, Chief David Umahi has expressed sadness over the death of a foremost Nigerian and great icon, Tony Anenih. Governor Umahi in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Emmanuel Uzor described Anenih as not just a patriot but a political encyclopedia, a man who contributed immensely to the development of democracy in Nigeria.
He said Nigeria has lost a great icon and a foremost Nigerian, a man whose love and contribution towards sustainance of democracy remain total and unequalled, adding that Nigeria and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP have lost a great icon.
The governor commiserated with the people of Edo State and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for the loss and called on the family to immortalize him by upholding all the good virtues he was known for.
Similarly, the senator representing Ebonyi Central senatorial zone, Senator Obinna Ogba has also described Chief Anenih as a great Nigerian, a democrat and philanthropist whose wealth of experience has impacted to the political and social system of the country.
Senator Ogba, who is the Senate Committee chairman on Sports, said that the PDP would miss the fatherly advice of the astute politician and called on the people of Edo state to immotalise the great Nigerian.
