A businessman, Deacon Michael Olarinoye, was on Sunday night kidnapped by unknown gunmen.
It was gathered that Olarinoye was returning to his base in Warri with members of his family after the burial of their late mother, Mrs Abigail Olarinoye at the weekend in Ipee, Kwara State.
The incident according to Gbenga Olarinoye, a Vanguard correspondent happened at about 9:00pm on Sunday during heavy downpour while driving between Okada and Benin road.
It was gathered that between Okada and Benin road, the six men kidnap gang suddenly stopped Deacon Olarinoye and his family after sporadic gunshots that deflated the tyres of the vehicle in which they were travelling.
The kidnappers then entered the vehicle with them and led them into the bush where they were dispossessed of their valuables.
The wife and the children and junior brother were later released while Deacon Olarinoye was taken to an unknown destination.
Though the matter had been reported at SIB, Benin according to Gbenga Olarinoye, no contact has been established with the kidnappers ever since.
