Why Stakeholders Rally For Gov Ugwuanyi

The excitement is still on and there is no end in sight to it, as praises and commendations continue to pour in across the globe on the endorsement of Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Gburu-Gburu), the Executive Governor of Enugu as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Parties (PDP) for a second term in office for the forthcoming general elections in the country.

And there is no stopping the roar of success and surge of emotion as the name Gburu-Gburu is now a mantra that the People of Enugu State have been chanting since that auspicious moment on May 29th, 2015 when he was first sworn-in as the Governor of Enugu State. The people’s love, admiration and support have even increased in tempo and magnitude graduating as it were into a formidable Gburu-Gburu movement that has been launched with fanfare across most of the local governments areas of the state.

According to HRH. Amb. Igwe Lawrence Agubuzo, Chairman Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has successfully cultivated a veritable image of the people’s governor through his messianic actions which routinely touch millions of lives, especially of the needy, the poor, the down trodden and helpless who daily pray for his personal well being and success.

This assertion becomes self evident by the plethora of rallies for the governor’s endorsement for the second term in office by numerous groups in the state, including traditional rulers of the 450 communities in the state who were among the first group to do so and in the process presented him with ‘Ofo’ as a time honoured symbol of protection, dignity, authority, power and moral rectitude in Igboland, teachers, students, civil servants, women groups, farmers, traders, the clergy, leaders of thoughts, politicians and non politicians alike also followed suit.

Indeed, it is such an amazing strand of history not just in the political chronicle of the state where for the first time Rt. Hon. Ugwuanyi was the only aspirant to the office of the governor of the state on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), it also cuts across the breadth of the nation’s political horizon as other political parties which were being torn apart by internal frictions and polarization arising from the jostle for vantage positions in the count down to the party primaries now envy the Enugu example.

The Holy book says, “how beautiful are the feet of one who brings good-news, who heralds peace, and proclaims salvation.” The remarkable thing about the unanimous endorsement of Rt. Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for a second term ticket by the party’s stakeholders is in its potency to continue to engender peace, harmony and understanding among members, thereby being able to present a united front towards the main

election.

For having removed internal friction and discord, all hands are now on the deck for the full mobilization of party members, supporters and the general voting public by appealing to their continued support for Gburu-Gburu’s policies and programmes that have not only met with our demands and preferences but have also harnessed and translated our potentials into veritable tools of development.

The volume of adverts being placed by individuals and groups in the national and local media, relishing the candidature of Hon. Ugwuanyi and the good works he has been doing in the state so far, shows that the governor’s relentless efforts to make things easier to our people to put food on their table, provide shelter over their heads, helping them get jobs while paying them their salaries promptly, giving them good education and high quality health care as Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo, former national chairman of the PDP has earlier on noted elsewhere has increased the joy, applause and euphoria that heralded Gburu-Gburu’s initial emergence as Governor of Enugu State.

Chief Phil Ezeogu, an indigene of Imo State who is resident in Enugu told me that in his over 30 years in the state, he has not witnessed such a generous but intimidating wave of wide acceptance for any candidate to an election as it is continuously unfolding for Hon.

Ugwuanyi and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming governorship election in Enugu State.

While Chief S.S Edeoga, a veteran politician from Eha-Amufu in Isi-Uzo L.G.A of the state sees in Hon. Ugwuanyi a man of faith, courage  and honour with good Christian values, who particularly keeps to the Biblical injunction of being one’s brother’s keeper. He said that he is optimistic that with Gburu-Gburu at the saddle as the Governor of Enugu State for a second term, the Ikem-Eha-Amufu – Nkalagu Road that   he has started will get an immediate completion.

But to Nana Ogbodo, chairman of Enugu State Local Government Staff Pension’s Board and the Director of Communications Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi Campaign Organization, the period  Governor Ugwuanyi has been in office so far, represents a period of audacious reawakening evidenced by unprecedented peace, healthy and ecumenical politics, industrial harmony, massive infrastructural developments across the length and breadth of the state and the payment of arrears of several years of frozen pensions and gratuities, etc. He also added that even in his private life, Gburu-Gburu has not left any person poorer than he met him.

Governor Ugwuanyi himself also gave an insight to what constitutes his most selling point and the stupendous goodwill that he has garnered with in so short a time of being the Governor of the state in his recent address to the people of Enugu State, when he said that his “administration adopted a multi-strata empowerment approach that touches the lives of traders, market women, the youth, urban and rural dwellers alike,” adding that it has remained consistent with its promise to pay civil servants on or before the 23rd of every month and also pay the pensioners.

He also stated that on infrastructure “this administration is synonymous with  rural development as the bulk of the infrastructural development effort of the administration are in the rural areas and there is hardly any community of the state without one form of government presence or the other in form of development projects”.

It goes beyond all shades of doubt that Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is one politician who understands the imperatives of good governance to the people of Enugu State.

He places a good store of value on citizens  right, rule of law and due process. And he has pledged continuity in the service of the people and optimal utilization of our human and material resources towards the realization of the Four Points Agenda of his government.

Hear him, “With God ordering our steps we will continue to put you first, fulfilling our promises, and ensuring that the common good remains our watchword.  We will continue to deliver democracy dividends to you. We will also continue to count on your prayers, support and co-operation as we build Enugu State of our dreams”.

Nothing can be more reassuring than this coming from His Excellency, Governor Ugwuanyi himself and to me this is the signature tune of acommitted leader.
