A political pressure group, Nigerian Comrades for Atiku, (NC4Atiku 2019), has urged the chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), Prof Mahmood Yakubu, to ensure free, fair and transparent polls in 2019.
The leadership of NC4Atiku 2019, stated this at the INEC headquarters in Abuja, where it submitted a letter to Yakubu. They also urged the commission to avoid a repeat of what transpired in the Osun State governorship election.
The national coordinator of the group, Efe Feludu, demanded for transparent and lack of bias in the conduct of all electioneering processes in order to birth credible, free and fair elections that would be acceptable to Nigerians and the international community.
He also asked that INEC must conduct credible election in order to justify the huge budget approved to the commission.
“We call on your office to ensure that what Nigeria suffered in the recent elections are corrected and the huge fund allocated to your commission judiciously used to give Nigerians credible, free and fair elections that will even be free from judicial maneuver.
“You can take a cue from the PDP primaries conducted under the leadership of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State which despite the mighty political gladiators who participated in that primary, everyone was happy with outcome of the party’s presidential primaries.”
