Ebonyi community ostracise middle age man over alleged fetish activities

The people of Ebisike Ochienyim community in Amagu, Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi state yesterday astracise a middle aged man, one Mr.Nkwuda Oyagu over alleged fetish activities in the community.
Some elderly men and youths of the community numbering over 30 were seen this morning while parading the man round the village square striped half naked and tied palm frond round his waist, neck and hands.
While children of the community were  seen chanting abusive songs to him, the elder woman rained insulted on him following some of the activities that was alleged against him by the people.
According to an eyewitness who hails from Ikwo community, Mr. Godwin Ekoyo told Leadership that Mr.Oyagu was caught in the early hours of today burying some substance suspected to be charms in front of his neighbours compound.
Mr. Ekoyo noted that while burying the charm, some members of the community spotted him and immediately raised alarm and the villagers gathered, interrogated him and he confessed that he has been using some fetish powers against members of the community and other persons.
According to the source, “on further interrogation he alleged that he has used some fetish means to make his brother blind, turned most of his brothers to be fugitive and vagabonds and never to return home again”.
He further alleged that, “some politicians in the state usually using him as an agent to kill their opponents or render them hopeless. Many girls are unmarried today because of incarnation I have done using their clothes. Many heinous acts happening in my community were my hand work”.
It took the quick intervention of some leaders of the community to stop the youths from lynching the man as they made frantic effort to ensure that the man was handed over to the police in Ikwo division.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, ASP Loveth Odah said that the matter is yet to be reported to her office.
