Lufthansa in conjunction with the University of Lagos, (UNILAG) have organised the second edition of impact week to train students and teachers on design thinking.

Speaking during the Entrepreneurship and skill development programme in Lagos, the director of entrepreneurship and skill development Centre, Sunday Adebisi, said the initiative is part of efforts to help students and graduates to build the rare capacity and capability to create employment rather than looking for employment.

Adebisi said there is the need to empower students and youths before they leave the university, adding that UNILAG is ready to change the narrative through the entrepreneurship and skill development center.

He said majority of the 33 million of unemployed people are youths, pointing out that the school produces about 15,000 graduate every year and the implications is that they also remain unemployed.

Adebisi added that,” For these reasons we at UNILAG is changing the narrative, we want to get our students and graduates equipped so that they can be job creator rather than being job seekers.”

He commended Lufthansa for supporting the impact week which is designed to train the students to believe in themselves, create idea and understand the problem in their environment as well as helping them to be able to provide solutions to them.

“We are doing this in collaboration with Lufthansa in other to help the students provide solutions through solving problems on waste, energy, health, transportation, urban agriculture, telecommunications solving every problem that we can see in Africa in such a way that location solutions are provided by local who understand where the shoe is itching them and they will be able to provide local solutions to solve them,” Adebisi said.
