A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)  aspirant for the House of Representatives for Ideato North/South federal constituency of Imo State, Anthony Obinna Abili, has dragged his party before a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, over alleged manipulation of the primary election in the state.

Also joined as defendants in the suit are the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and the candidate of the party for the election,  George Onyeabor Igbo.

In the suit dated and filed October 17th, 2018, the plaintiff prayed the court to nullify the election of Igbo as candidate of the PDP for the election.

He also asked the court in the case with suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/1158/18 to restrain INEC from accepting the candidacy of Igbo for the election.

Abili in the suit asked the court to determine the following questions:

*Whether by the provisions of Section 87 (1), (2), (3), (4) (c) of the Electoral Act 2010 as Amended and Paragraph 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21 of the People’s Democratic Party Electoral Guideline, it is not the aspirant who polled the highest number of votes cast and declared returned by the returning officer after the primary that becomes the candidate of the party for Ideato North/South Federal Constituency of Imo State.
