The Emir of Anka and chairman, Zamfara State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Attahiru Ahmad, has urged state government to provide pump action fire arms to the civilian JTF.
Speaking at the distribution of 850 motorbikes procured by the state government for the Civilian JTF, Ahmad said provision of fire arms to the JTF would help greatly in the fight.
According to him, if the government provides pump action fire arms to the Civilian JTF within some months, the banditry would end.
“All we need now is fire arms, so that, the civilian JTF could match inside the bushes and face the bandits squarely,” he added.
In his remarks, commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Bello Dankande, stressed that the state government was fully committed to the fight against banditry.
He explained that, the provision of motor bikes to the civilian JTF was to ease their movement into remote areas to track the bandits.
Dankande therefore, urged traditional rulers to be more vigil and focus on the fight against bandits, as government was ready to deal with anybody found wanting in banditry in the state.
“Government is concern over the security challenges facing the state, and it is ready to provide all necessary logistics to end the menace,” he added.
He warned against misuse of the motor bikes.
