Plateau United captain, Elisha Golbe has debunked claims by Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr that the present Nigerian Professional Football League  (NPFL) players are not good enough to play for men’s senior national team.

Rohr has earlier declared that home based players were not good enough to displace their foreign based counterparts in the current national team set up, saying Nigeria’s best players were abroad.

The Jos club captain, who led the team to win the  historic NPFL title in 2017/2108 in a chat with LEADERSHIP sports stated that the NFPL player are good enough to play in the Eagle’s squad if given the opportunity to do.

“The NPFL players are good enough to play for the Super Eagles if given a chance to prove themselves.”he said

“If the right equipment and facilities are in our disposal to train and we are motivated, I strongly believe that we can perform even better than the foreign players” he added

Golbe, who was recently elected  as the second Vice President of the National Association of Nigerian Professional Footballers,(NANPF) opined that he will  be sharing ideas with the new board led by Former Super Eagles winger, Tijani Babangida on the need to improve on the welfare of the players most especially home based.
