VIO To Partner Police On Intelligence Gathering

As part of efforts to win the war on crime and criminalities in the country, the Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO) said it would collaborate with the Nigeria Police in the area of intelligent gathering and information sharing.

Speaking when he received the commander of the intelligence response team of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), DCP Abba Kyari, in his office, the director of FCT Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS), Alhaji Aliyu Wadata Bodinga, stated that the directorate would continue to contribute to the safety of the nation.

Bodinga explained that the FCT Motor Vehicle Administration is very efficient and has the capacity to provide every data of vehicles registered in the territory in the last four years.

He revealed that the states would soon embark on the compilation of a comprehensive primary data bank, which according to him, would go a long way in making their job easier as they operate in different parts of the country.

Earlier, the commander of the police intelligence response team, DCP Abba Kyari, had explained that the visit was meant to familiarize with the directorate and to seek areas of collaboration, especially in the area of information sharing for improved operation.

Kyari explained that his team was able to arrest 22 bombers in the north-east, cracked down many kidnappers both in the south-east and other parts of the country, frustrated efforts of many ritual killers and also that of human traffickers among other achievements.

He requested for collaboration with the directorate whenever motor vehicles are used in any form of criminality and are captured either through CCTV or any other means that must be admissible in any quarter.
