The 2019 Appropriation Bill presented to the Sokoto State House of Assembly by Gov. Aminu Tambuwal on Dec. 24, 2018, passed the second reading at the plenary on Tuesday.
The second reading of the bill was sequel to the motion moved by the Majority Leader, Alhaji Garba Bello (PDP- Yabo) at the plenary presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Alhaji Abubakar Magaji.
He said that members had debated on the general principles of 2019 budget of N169,652,771,486.00 delivered by Gov. Tambuwal.
The debate, according to him, is for the purpose of making provisions for the services of Sokoto state in respect of financial year ending Dec. 31, 2019.
The deputy speaker thereafter referred the bill to the Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation for scrutiny and recommendations to report back to the House in one week.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Gov. Tambuwal had on Dec. 24, presented the state’s 2019 budget estimate of N169.652 billion to the State House of Assembly for consideration.
He said that the budget, which was tagged, “Budget of Consolidation for Sustainable Growth and Development,” has N99.184 billion for capital projects, while N70.468 billion was for recurrent expenditure.
The governor explained that the budget reflects a shortfall of over N50 billion compared to the over N220.5 billion of the preceding year.
