There was no love lost as Serena 37, thrashed teenager Yastremska 18, This secured Serena hr spot in the round of 16 in Melbourne. Her experience came to play as she outplayed the youngster who just featured in her second slam main draw.
In the round of 16 Serena would face Simona Halep who thrashed her sister Venus.
The Ukrainian Yastremska, looked too fragile from the start giving Serena the opening to capitalize and win to advance to the next round eyeing the 8th win of the Australian Open.
Bringing her wits to play, Serena was composed all through. The Youngster emotionally lost her grip as she fell behind a break in the second set. Williams however showed great sportsmanship as she praised the teary Dayana Yastremska.
