Buratai Commissions Special Banking Services For Troops

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-Gen. Yusuf Buratai, has commissioned an agent banking in 20 Battalion in Starti Barracks in Gashaka local government area of Taraba State.

At the event yesterday in Gashaka, Buratai said that the establishment of the agent banking was to ease the suffering of relatives of the military personnel fighting Boko Haram insurgency and other security challenges in the Northeast zone.

He said that the initiative would bring various banking services closer to the Nigerian Army personnel and their families as part of the federal government’s policy of financial inclusion for all Nigerians.

Buratai assured the families of troops in front line North East fighting insurgency and other related security challenges of access to fund through the agent banking system.

“The decision of military authorities to set up the agent banking is to ease their pains through the establishment of banking institutions in the remote barracks” he said.

The COAS thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for his support for the families of the military personnel as well as meeting their demands in the ongoing war against insurgency.

The northern head of retail banking, First Bank Plc, Mr. Shahu Aliyu, said that no sacrifice or service was too much for the Nigerian Army.
