One of the stars in Fox’s musical drama ‘Empire,’ Jussie Smollett, who was attacked in Chicago early Tuesday morning in what police are saying was a hate crime, is out of hospital and is doing well.
According to Billboard, the 36-year-old actor was leaving a restaurant around 2:00 a.m. when two unnamed suspects began yelling racial and homophobic slurs at him.
There were no suspects arrested immediately after the crime was committed and so far, the situation is the same, none have been arrested.
The Chicago Police department are however, taking the matters seriously and investigations have been intensified to bring the culprits to book.
Smollett was punched in the face and poured unknown chemical substance which many have speculated might have been bleach.
Also during the attack, one of the suspects wrapped a rope around the actor’s neck before fleeing the scene.
Smollett was still strong enough to transport himself to Northwestern Hospital where he was taken care of.
